How does the educational portion work?

Junior members have access to a library of resources to learn about the beef cattle feeding industry and what happens to the cattle after they move on from a cow-calf operation.

  • An online library of resources always available to strengthen your knowledge in the industry and assist you with understanding the reports sent back on your cattle entered

  • An educational contest portion hosted during the NJHA Fed Steer Shootout Field Day, hosted at HRC Feed Yards, Scott City, Kan., in April

  • A final portfolio project, for those who wish to win scholarships and awards, as well as the title of junior member of the year in the NJHA Fed Steer Shootout.

NJHA Fed Steer Shootout Education

This free course offers various modules dedicated to the cattle feeding industry. All are strictly filled with information, resources, infographics and videos to help better understand the program. None of these modules are required, nor do they have assignments, however, to be competitive in the educational portion during the NJHA Fed Steer Shootout Field Day and compete for the junior member of the year, they are excellent resources to build a juniors knowledge.
